March 2012 will see the brewing of three Irish-themed beers. Don't be fooled by my first name... "the only Irish in me is my liver." However, my life is definitely influenced by all things green.
First up is the least Irish of the bunch, my rebranded Birthday Maibock. Brewed annually on New Year's Eve (12/27 this year on SOGO Brew Day!), this big malty bock is always ready by my March birthday. This year, I'm bringing it into the fold and calling it "Ryan's Spring Bock" for my 38th.
Next, I brewed up a batch of Fightin' Irish Red on January 29th. I brew this for March and into early April, when my Notre Dame Fightin' Irish are hopefully making a run through the Frozen Four.
The last to be brewed will be Dropkick Irish Stout. This dry stout is named for my favorite band, the Dropkick Murphys and features Al Barr on the label. This year I get to see them live in Atlantic City when this beer is ready! Quick shout-out: Sláinte to Ó Flannagáin over at HBT. This is his Ó Flannagáin Standard and it looks and sounds awesome. Just had to adjust slightly for my inefficient brewery!
Coolest logo I think I have ever made:
